Stairway is an integrated multi-skill course in English that uses as its base, sound pedagogical principles of language learning. It facilitates an experiential learning atmosphere by linking it to life outside the classroom so as to encourage active participation through the development of linguistic skills. The series is based on the understanding that learning to communicate with clarity and precision, orally, in writing, and through a variety of media, helps children understand the world around them.
Focuses on the four basic skills and sub-skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Includes contemporary concerns and issues such as the environment, sustainable development,
maintenance of resources, concern for animals and plants, human rights, child exploitation,
gender justice, etc.
Presents themes in an integrated manner.
Includes myths, legends, fables, folk tales, translated texts from Indian languages and the
other languages of the world to develop an appreciation for socio-cultural and linguistic heritage.
Incorporates an interesting variety of tasks based on recommended guidelines.
