Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is one of the most celebrated and auspicious festivals of Sikhs. This year we will be celebrating 354th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Ji. Guru Gobind Jayanti is also called Gurupurab. Guru Gobind ji was the last leader of 10 Sikh Gurus who succeeded his father Guru Tej Bahadur Singh as the leader of Sikhs.
The festival falls on the full moon day in the month of Kartik. This year Guru Gobind Jayanti will be celebrated on January 20. People offer prayer in gurudwara, lit diyas, candles and decorate their houses. Many communities organise langars on this day.
